Fire Safety and Alerts
The CFA is responsible for declaring fire danger periods and ratings. Relevant alerts will be posted on the homepage of this website.
Are you fire ready?
During the declared Fire Danger Period no fires may be lit in the open. Residents are encouraged to ensure that their properties are kept clear of any potential fire hazards, such as long grass, dead vegetation and accumulated garden waste/rubbish. If you are concerned about a potential fire hazard in your area, please contact Council's Fire Prevention Officer. An inspection will be conducted and appropriate action taken where necessary.
In 'severe' and 'extreme' conditions
During CFA-declared 'severe' and 'extreme' fire conditions, all members of the community are asked to remain vigilant in relation to fire safety, implement their bushfire survival plan and minimise travel in high-risk areas.
Community members are asked to listen to local FM radio stations or ABC radio on 774 AM for updates throughout the day.
