Community Listening Posts kick off in 2018
Following its 2017 review of community engagement guidelines and opportunities, Council’s first three Community Listening Post events for 2018 have been scheduled at locations in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff.
The dates and locations for Community Listening Posts in January, February and March are:
- Thursday 18 January between 10.30am and 11.30am at the Uniting Church Bay Room, corner Hesse Street and Stokes Street, Queenscliff
- Thursday 22 February between 10.30am and 11.30am at the Point Lonsdale Primary School Hall, 22 Bowen Road, Point Lonsdale
- Thursday 15 March between 10.30am and 11.30am at the Uniting Church Hall, corner Hesse Street and Stokes Street, Queenscliff
Whenever possible, two Councillors will attend each Community Listening Post to exchange information and ideas with members of the public. Councillor Susan Salter, the newly elected Mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe, is looking forward to the first Community Listening Post next week.
“Council has very high hopes for our new community engagement initiative,” said Cr Salter.
“The Community Listening Posts offer an informal opportunity for people to bring their ideas and concerns to Council. If you have suggestions for Council, I strongly encourage you to join us and have your say.”
“Holding our first Community Listening Post in January allows our non-resident ratepayers to be included in the conversation,” said Cr Salter.
The guidelines for Community Listening Posts are available on Council’s website, www.queenscliffe.vic.gov.au. Please refer to the Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on Thursday 26 October 2017 for details.
