Free Entry Queenscliffe Historical Museum
19 April 2019
With the Hesse Street Hub project underway the museum will soon change forever, so come on a nostalgic journey and see our little regional museum before the big change. The space is a bit tight so the building can seem busy with the visitors, collection management volunteers and researchers all in the one space. But there is a certain charm that comes with clutter and a warmth that comes with sharing that space. If you are just passing through there is a special display 'Let's Face the Music and Dance' which showcases items of a musical nature from the Collection. Also, there are two film viewing areas and the film topics range from historic footage of Queenscliff to the Sea Pilots to the story of Buckley who lived with the local aboriginal people for over 30 years before there was a town called Melbourne … and more. But if you are delving deeper into the local history, your history or the history of your house, the Research Team has a wealth of local archives at its fingertips and can assist you. We are open from 11 am until 4 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. On the weekends we open from 1 pm until 4 pm. We look forward to your visit.
