Food Surveillance
The Environmental Health Officer monitors the sale and preparation of food within the Borough, both from registered premises and the popular market stalls. Any problems encountered in regard to food handling, adulterated food, or food safety should be reported to the officer.
Environmental Nuisance Control
Conditions effecting public health can be reported to the Environmental Health Officer for attention. Reports are treated confidentially and investigated with the intent of resolving the issue promptly, necessitating direction orders where appropriate.
Monitoring of Accommodation Establishments
As the Borough of Queenscliffe is an extremely popular tourist destination, ongoing monitoring is carried out of accommodation establishments, and caravan parks to ensure all meet standard criteria.
Infectious Disease Control
A free diabetic needle and syringe disposal service is provided, together with a range of issues in regard to vaccinating against preventable diseases. The Environmental Health Officer also monitors hairdressers and beauty parlours to ensure correct infection control procedures are undertaken
